How this started

A café in Cyprus, January 2024

We are Ugandan (Karen) and Sierra Leonean (Agyeman). Met a long way from both — at a sports café, over a match neither of us remembers the score of. Three years later we are asking our two families to meet in the middle of it all.

Her side · Day One

Lutembe, Entebbe. The Kwanjula is her family's traditional ceremony — the formal introduction held at Mr. Katewanga Isaac's Estate along Entebbe Road, where Agyeman is presented and accepted into the family. It is the reason we begin our celebrations on Thursday.

His side · Day Two

Freetown to Kampala. On Saturday, our families unite for our church wedding ceremony at Victory Christian Centre Church in Ndeeba, followed by our reception banquet and evening party at Hotel 360, Ndejje Hill. Travelling this far from Sierra Leone and across the world means everything to us.

The Wedding

Church service at Victory Christian Centre Church at 10:00 AM, followed by wedding reception at Hotel 360 starting at 3:00 PM. The after party will commence immediately after the reception. Champagne gold and peach on the tables.

Getting to Uganda

Most guests will fly into Entebbe (EBB), about 40 minutes from Kampala. Two things need doing well in advance — the e-visa and the yellow fever jab. Start them now rather than in January.

Visa & e-visa

Guests traveling from Sierra Leone can obtain a visa on arrival at Entebbe Airport. For guests coming from other destinations, please apply online for an e-visa beforehand. Online decisions usually come in two to three working days, but apply at least two weeks out. Print the approval letter and carry it; biometrics are taken at the airport.

Note: for e-visas, the approval letter expires 90 days after issue — so don't apply before roughly November 2026.

Yellow fever

Mandatory for everyone over one year old, both for the visa application and again at immigration. Get it at least ten days before you travel — that is when it counts as valid. The certificate lasts for life.

Without it you can be turned away at Entebbe. Please don't leave this one late.

Below are the primary and alternative travel routes from Freetown to Uganda. Please note that airfare prices are not yet fixed — we are currently in discussions with Ethiopian Airlines to secure a discounted group rate for our wedding guests.

Freetown (FNA) → Addis Ababa (ADD) → Entebbe (EBB)

The most direct and standard route into Uganda. We are actively working on an agreement with Ethiopian Airlines to obtain a group discount on ticket prices for our wedding guests. You can also search schedules and book directly.

Note on pricing: Ticket prices are not fixed yet. We will share group discount codes as soon as the agreement is finalized.

Kenya Airways (Via Monrovia & Nairobi)

Monrovia (ROB) → Nairobi (NBO) → Entebbe / Kampala (EBB)

Fly with Kenya Airways via Nairobi into Entebbe / Kampala. Other guests are traveling via this route, which often offers substantially cheaper airfare connecting through Monrovia and Nairobi.

Taxi or a driver

Uber and Bolt both run in Kampala. For the two ceremony days we will arrange transport — tell us if you need a seat.
